Alternative Living Unit (ALU). An ALU is a house or apartment accommodating up to three individuals requiring supervised care. These homes may be overseen by 24-hour, on-location staff or by drop-in caregivers, depending on the degree of need. Such homes are licensed and monitored by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Annual Dinner Dance Community Supported Living Arrangement (CSLA). The CSLA program is ordinarily used to allow individuals at higher functioning levels to live independently and maintain lifestyles that are determined by themselves and their families.
Individuals in the CSLA program can select their own homes, roommates and supports and make other decisions to further their own growth and development. In such cases, L.I.F.E. provides the counseling and drop-in supports needed to meet specific personal objectives.

REsidential Services Small Group Home. Small Group Homes are similar to ALUs but house up to four individuals. As with ALUs, supervision levels are determined by the specific needs of the residents – some may require 24-hour, on-location staff, while others can be served through drop-in caregivers.

In either case, L.I.F.E. Quality Assurance constantly monitors conditions to make certain that the needs of residents are being met and all regulatory requirements are satisfied.

In-Home Supports
Sometimes, a L.I.F.E. client prefers to live with family or to remain in his or her own home, but requires assistance in order to do so. In such cases, L.I.F.E. can provide all the services necessary to make it possible. Such services might include counseling, nursing, transportation or specialized training. Whatever the need, L.I.F.E. can tailor an appropriate program.

Supported Employment Program was initiated to assist individuals in the residential program who had failed in other traditional supported employment programs. Through provision of both direct employment and on the job supports, L.I.F.E.. provides a unique opportunity for success. Individuals are employed by LIFE to perform custodial, grounds maintenance or office duties in L.I.F.E.'s offices or homes. Job coaching services are provided following a mobile work crew model with close support given at each site. As the employer, L.I.F.E. is able to do job engineering to fit the task requirements to the individuals' abilities as well as to provide training to expand the individuals work capabilities. Coupling the ability to alter job tasks with the direct training and support of the job coach and by keeping the program small (L.I.F.E. is licensed for 10 individuals), L.I.F.E. is able to tailor the program to support individual success.
